Couple of words on happiness
Short one today. Cause happiness is quite a simple thing actually :)
I've done years of therapy in my life and here's what I've learned:
Life is primarily meant to be lived and experienced.
Rather than understood or optimised.
We, as Westerners, seem to be in the process of creating a society that looks more like a machine than anything else.
In a materialistic world, we're always striving to get somewhere or achieve something.
We only do what's useful.
It's all about skills.
Which isn't bad...
But
We also lose a natural sense of spirituality, that is actually ingrained in our brain and body.
My therapist once told me:
<<I get that you have goals, and that's great.
But what is your relationship with your goals?
Who is in charge?>>
What he wanted me to understand is that you can have goals and achievements BE your life, and define yourself by what you achieve.
Or
You can have goals and values give direction to your life, while you experience it in an authentic and, if you will, spiritual way.
Happiness is already encoded in us, and we can easily access it by letting our natural joy to live flow.
A way to achieve this is by being more present in the moment, in our surroundings, in our body, in the things we're doing and in our relationships.
Maybe this reminder helps someone 🙂 🤍
Good reminder! Thanks for writing it.
Well, it helps me. Thank you Nicola.
