I left Sicily 12 years ago at the age of 28 for London, UK.
When I visit for holidays (mostly I summer), I usually spend a month working remotely at my parents house with my wife and young daughter.
While I enjoy food, weather, sun and the nice beaches (at least for the first couple of weeks), I don't think I could ever live here again. Towards the last couple of weeks, I already start missing my beloved rainy UK. The heat and mosquitos in summer, road traffic and state of infrastructure is too much to handle.
For Software engineers. Personally I am a data manager so I would like to learn about my case but in general for all software engineers, what is your opinion on France? remote working I dont think its possible to stay inside of france and work for a company located outside of France, atleast for foreigners.
You see, because I am using EuroToptechjobs to find remote jobs. However, despite your website has a highlight of "Visa Sponsorship" tag, they still ask me if I require visa sponsorship or not during application. This is not really friendly because maybe they put a filter to reject candidates who answered yes to the question and when I receive rejection, there is no clear explanation about the reason because not everything should depend on one's nationality! atleast for remote jobs!
I like it in UK. Summer is much more pleasant than here in Sicily at the moment. I can't sleep without the aircon turned on all night.
Raising a kid without my parents is not easy but we are managing it.

I resonated with all your points.
Thanks for the insight! Do you like it in the UK? What about raising a kid without grandparents?
Please could you write a similar article for France
France for Software Engineers? Or France for remote workers? I'll put it into the to do list! :)
