Don't Start a Business
As becoming an entrepreneur gets easier thanks to AI, is it now a "better" career than working as an employee?
Maybe it’s just me.
But online I keep seeing people pushing the idea of starting your own thing.
People now even say that it’s easier than getting a job:
Before I lay out my opinion, let me first list a few already published articles that touch on this topic:
The first business I launched was my coaching program. Here’s few thoughts I wrote down few months after having started it, comparing it to my previous tech career.
One year ago, after roughly one year of being an entrepreneur, I draw some conclusions on that path vs corporate career.
Here some additional thoughts on how a “content creator lifestyle” differs from that of an employee.
Here I compare the two paths, for someone looking into a remote career

Here some learnings from “retiring” early - i.e. at 30 - from a corporate career
One of the arguments often made around the “business > job” narrative, is that the job market is more competitive now than 5/10 years ago.
Well…
That might be true. But it’s not less competitive than succeeding in business.
I think a lot of people don’t know how to play the tech career game, and that’s why they might think it’s that rigged/hard.
Here’s a few articles on how to do just that:
Some general tips for navigating a tough market and volatile future
How to “cheat” your career (=better invest your resources)
Deep-dive on state of the market in Europe in 2025 and 2026 (including better strategies to apply in the years to come)
So, what is my opinion on “entrepreneurship being easier than getting a job”?
Generally, I disagree.
I think the numbers agree with me too:
I’m not against entrepreneurship.
I think for some people might be awesome and a great thing to strive for.
Personally: I like my day to day life much more now than when I was working a job.
But… It’s not easier than working a job. Far from it. And most people don’t make it.
That’s just the truth.
